Sometimes, my memory isn’t quite what you’d expect the memory of a person who writes about quizzes to be.

Case in point, yesterday I added the 12 questions that had accompanied the Independent article in the paper to the bottom of my post about the same article.

Today, I completely forgot to post the answers to the questions (until now, that is)!  Sorry if you were waiting on them.

After a short delay, no doubt caused by the small matter of the general election campaign, the much mentioned article featuring this website was published in today’s Irish Independent. Huzzah!

John Meagher’s article is on page 34 of the Metro edition I have in front of me.

Trivia hits our TV screens on Thursday night at 10.15pm. This site’s own little contribution to the build-up to the show has certainly succeeded in getting the blog’s name out into the world at large.

Tablequiz.net and yours truly will feature in an article in this Thursday’s Irish Independent. I’ve known about that for almost a week now and was interviewed for it on Friday last.

However, I got a huge surprise this afternoon when I was contacted by a researcher on Ryan Tubridy’s radio show on 2FM, asking me to appear on the show on Thursday morning. I don’t know the exact time I’ll be on air, with the researcher only being able to estimate it’ll be between 9.30 and 10.30am.  If you’d like to hear what I have to say (or even what I sound like), tune in to 2FM or else via the station’s website, www.2fm.ie

I don’t really go in for passing on other people’s content on this blog.  However, here’s an article that caught my eye in this week’s Sunday Independent.

iPhone ‘killing’ pub table quiz

Is the iPhone ruining the traditional pub table quiz? The gadget, which can acquire answers to general knowledge questions in an instant, is frustrating organisers and table quiz enthusiasts.

Cheating at table quizzes used to be very difficult. It would involve conspicuously hauling in 26 encyclopaedias on a two-wheel trolley or cunningly looking into your neighbour’s answer book. Now all you have to do is keep the iPhone underneath your table and search for the answer. Teams are getting full marks in every round.
